ALS Services During Covid
We're delighted to continue with successful & safe provision at our Youth Zone & Fun Time services in Chard & Crekwerne, since the easing of restrictions allowed us more options & range of what we can do.
We've been delighted to provide more normal services, within whatever changing restrictions & our own Risk Assessments & Covid policies have allowed. Centre-based services take place (during term-time) in Chard, at The Young People's Centre (by The Rugby Club) and upstairs at The George Reynolds Centre + outdoors at Henhayes, in Crewkerne.
In an ever-changing world, please check our Facebook pages for latest updates & details (e.g. since the summer, we now have no limits on numbers attending, therefore pre-booking is not required), as this website may not be kept fully up to date. Our current Facebook pages are:
@ActiveLearningandSkills.als @YouthZone.als @FunTime.als
We post our plans for sessions, on Facebook too (which can sometimes change at short notice e.g. if weather impacts), so it's a great way to stay up to date & find out more about what we're doing.
For the Fun Time age groups we email parents on the day before a session, with planned activities, relevant info etc, so please feel free to email us & ask to be added to our email list for Fun Time, in either Crewkerne or Chard.
Unfortunately, our other locations (from pre-Covid) will have to wait for our return, as (amongst other considerations such as suitable venues, that can be managed to a Covid-Secure status), we now have a smaller delivery team of staff & volunteers & sadly don't currently have capacity to re-introduce all of our services.
We continue to train our team & develop how we work, to maintain our Covid-Secure status & keep services as safe & enjoyable as possible, in the circumstances & changing times.
* The pace of change means that, although we have a comprehensive set of Covid-Secure Risk Assessments & measures, we are not posting these online, as they are subject to continual review & updating, as restrictions, policy & the law changes. We are happy to discuss any queries / concerns you may have - simply contact us with your details & query & we'll get back in touch.
The continued partnership & support of our key funders & contract holders (Chard Area Youth Committee*, Crewkerne Town Council & South Somerset District Council) are massively appreciated!
*who, in turn, receive support from Chard Town Council & SSDC
Active Learning & Skills is a not-for-profit organisation incorporated in 2008, currently delivering services for teenagers and children in South Somerset.
In school holidays, we sometimes run activities such as 'Fun-Time Day-Time' events & activities for the Youth Zone age group.
Please feel freee to enjoy our pre-Covid video, made with the children and young people of ALS & keep an eye out for an update version, hopefully coming soon.
